El Mundial de ATPreduce a tresStubborn y deja cinco lugares al borde
Zverev, Alcaraz y Shelton tienen el boleto assured para Turín. Sinner se quedó afuera por lesión y la clasificación se define en Viena, Basilea y París.
La jugada que_pin nailed the knockout arrived early: Alexander Zverev qualifications for the ATP Finals, the first ticket for Turín. The German secured his spot in August after winning Roland Garros and advancing at the US Open. Carlos Alcaraz followed in September, and Ben Shelton last week. Three players, three tickets. The other five places are still up for grabs.
Sinner se baja y deja una vacancy de heavyweight
The biggest absence is Jannik Sinner, the two-time champion. On October 6, the Italian announced that his season is over because of an injury to his right knee. He needs treatment, he said, and that means his 2026 campaign is officially closed. His exit hands the world number one ranking to Zverev and removes one of the main favorites for the title in Turin.
“Necesito tratamiento para mi rodilla, lo que significa que mi temporada 2026 ha terminado oficialmente.”Jannik Sinner
The fight for the remaining places is tight, to say the least. Flavio Cobolli leads the group outside the classified players with 3590 points, followed by Daniil Medvedev with 3510, Frances Tiafoe with 3380, Arthur Fils with 3375 and Rafael Jódar with 3159. Medvedev is the only one in that group with previous appearances in the tournament, after winning the 2020 edition.
Alex de Minaur and Novak Djokovic are just outside the current group, with 2880 and 2840 points respectively. The Serbian is the historic champion of the Finals, with seven titles, and could equal Roger Federer’s participation record of 19 appearances if he qualifies. He comes off a title in Beijing, although he lost in the first round in Shanghai. A victory in Switzerland would also allow him to match Federer’s 103 titles. That is the kind of scenario that turns a final tournament into a historic night.
For Argentina, the news is in the doubles. Horacio Zeballos, fourth in the world in the specialty, is already qualified alongside Marcel Granollers. The pair is heading for their seventh joint appearance and is searching for its first title. Guido Andreozzi, in turn, is ninth in the race with Manuel Guinard, only 200 points away from the last available ticket.
The next step is Vienna and Basel, followed by Paris. Those tournaments will decide who completes the field for Turin. The next rival is the first round in Vienna, with the date to be confirmed by the tournament schedule. The bracket, meanwhile, already has a heavyweight absence and five places still hanging in the balance.
